?!?!
Maybe it’s just me, but I find it really weird/awkward when people write fanfiction of actual people. Idols, actors, singers …. utaite.
And shipping real life people, to some extent too ..? I mean, it’s cute and funny “aww”-ing over moments where they show affection for each other, but some people take it to whole ‘nother level?
It’s fine if they’re fictional characters that person played though ..
Ahaha, that discussion has been going on forever… I’ve been in fandom for 10 years, and it has never gone anywhere. You can’t stop the people who like it from writing it, and you can’t stop other people from being squicked by it… the only thing almost everyone agrees on is that you don’t mention it to the people you’re writing about. (RPF rule #1: Don’t be that girl. The one who shoves porn-pics-with-their-heads-pasted-on manips in their faces at cons.)
The way I feel about it, is that it’s like fantasizing about someone you have a crush on but don’t interact much - it’s fine to think about, and it’s okay to share with your best friend, or your 300 best internet friends in this case, but you don’t walk up to them and tell them in great detail what you’d like to do to them. Some people may not want to talk about who they fancy with their best friend, but I can’t really see anything seriously wrong with it. Just… own your feelings, and don’t make your thoughts other people’s problems.
